Price Paid: $0
Bike Setup:Record group
Summary:Well I had a Bianchi and the cunting think broke just outside the guarantee period. They refused to even look at it although three fractures in the downtube and two behind the bracket waould seem to suggest a defect. Failure rate of their frames in Europe is woeful: 70 in some models.
Strengths:Looked nice
Weaknesses:Cataclismically poor construction and galactically pathetic after-sales service.
Similar Products Used:Frame which did not break: Raleigh, Pinarello, Giant, Hand made etc.

Bike Setup:Ultegra
Summary:This is my second EV2 in less than 18 months. It rides great when it is new, but they seem to be quite disposable. My first one broke cleanly at the seattube-bb sheel after 3000 miles. My second one has broken at the chainstay, also after 3,000 miles.
Strengths:Rides great when not broken.
Weaknesses:Warranty response is slow from East Coast. The distributor is in California. Bike breaks easily compared to my last bike which lasted 15 years and was then sold intact on eBay.
Similar Products Used:Jiffy Lube - it also only lasts 3,000 miles.
Reviewed by: B K, Recreational Rider, from San Diego
Price Paid: $1100 at LBS
Favorite Ride:Death Valley to Mt. Whitney race
Bike Setup:Record 10
Summary:I enjoyed the frame - while it lasted. I'm 5' 10" and race at 155 lbs. After 8 months of use (and about 7K miles) the downtube developed a crack on the underside that was about 10" long. The crack was at about the midpoint of the downtube - between the butted areas. When I would warm up on the trainer at races I was amazed at the amount of flex in the frame in the bottom bracket area. So to the fella below who weighs 195 lbs., I'd be checking that frame regularly if I were you.
Strengths:A very good jack of all trades frame. Not particularly outstanding at any one thing, but very good at most. Comfortable ride for an aluminum frame.
Weaknesses:Durability

Summary:Well I had a Bianchi which broke just outside of the guarantee period. Those mental midgets, who laughingly refer to themselves as Customer Service, refused to pay anything towards its replacement even though it cost €2700. Do not buy any Bianchi products: their frame failure rate is appalling
Strengths:Looked nice
Weaknesses:The fornicating construction: three fractures in the down tube and two behind the bracket.
Similar Products Used:Frames which did not break and one which did outside a guarantee period but was still refunded by the manufacturer. Pinarello, Giant, Handmade frames, Orbit, Raleigh

Strengths:was very happy with how light and responsive it was. all your energy is put straight to the road. great on turns and decents. Geometry was great.
Weaknesses:broke the frame during a field sprint. bike was never crashed or neglected. seat tube snaped off of the bottom bracket. i then heard how other ev2 aluminum frames had broke.

Fragility of frame especially the downtube (feels like a beercan).

Maybe the 2004 alloy frames are better but asked my dealer today about Bianchi (he used to be dealer). He told me of 30 sold frames in 2002/2003 12 broke and had to be returned for guarantee (which by lasted ages). He told me the carbon wasn't that bad but at that weight there are better alu frames and the biggest problem was the rediculous long seedstays, frame is good for straight roads/slow touring but is unsuitable for fast cornering. With the current dealership of brands like Trek/Scott and Kuota he is more happy (and so are his customers).

If I was you i'd stay away from Bianchi. I work at a bike shop and I've seen too many cracked frames from Bianchi. They look absolutely great but they are just too fragile._________________

Hi guys, here in Brasil ( at least ) all the bianchi's products sucks, my friends broken five ev2, one SL alloy, and I broke my M-alloy a month ago, and the warranty simple doesn't exist, I bougth my bike one year ago ( +- 5000 miles ), so the warranty must replace the frame because the warranty was for tree years, my friend broke his ev2 and wait one year to get the warranty . . . PS: here in Brasil a ev2 frame and fork cost U$ 1400, and a m-alloy ( now ML3 ) costs U$ 1000, it's a very expensive bike for the benefits, so I will go to a litespeed and that bianchi frame goes to the garbage can . . . sorry for the bad english . .

Summary:This review is of a 2004 Bianchi XL AL EV3. The frame was a warranty replacement for my EV2. Quite simply, the EV3 is awesome!!! It is more comfortable than the EV2, in that it is able to absorb bumps much more easily, and yet at the same time is much stiffer. You can feel that the energy you expend is being transferred into forward motion, and not lost through frame flex. Some well known frames are stiff and don't absorb road shocks any where near as well as the Bianchi does. That is what I call being properly engineered. Because the EV3 has sloping geometry, a 55cm like mine has an actual seat tube measurment of 52cm. It looks modern, and it corners and decends as if it were on rails. I kid you not!!! The full carbon one piece forks are quite simply the best you will find anywhere. They are made from high modulus carbon fibre, are very stiff and very comfortable. When the steerer is cut down, they have a mass of around 360 grams! I love my Bianchi!!
Strengths:Lightweight, stiff, ability to absorb road shocks, excellent cornering and decending.
