Hi!
New here. I wish I knew Dutch, kindly forgive my use of English
I’m looking to replace the wheels on my everyday bicycle (an old Swedish granny bike ca 1936) A nice old frame. The options in Sweden for getting a good 635 wheelset seem few if you don’t order a bespoke set. And even then I know of few places to turn. I’m looking to instead order from The Netherlands and would be very thankful for recommendations of builders, brands or retailers that might ship to Sweden (if forum rules allows ofc)
28” x 1 5/8 x 1 1/2 are the only dimensions I’m familiar with for vintage bikes here.. Looking for rather wide rimmed 635 wheels anyway with a rear coaster brake hub, velosteel/favorit preferable over shimano. And since I want to be able to carry loads and use the bike rather heavily on poor roads I would love to know that I have a strong, well built wheel set. Would prefer a classic/neutral look for the rims.
(Freewheel single speed)
All tips will be much appreciated!!
Cheers
635 28” wheel set single speed
Sorry for the delay. All components that you need are available. 635mm rims are usually in steel and thus single wall. Nowadays it is also practical to use 622mm alu double wall rims instead. Much stronger/stiffer than the flexible steel single wall rims. 40-50mm tires are suitable to fit. Whether Favorit coaster hubs are still available is unknown to me.
