But then...
After training on it for a week, the problems started during my first race on it, when after standing to sprint the chain jumped off the outside of the big chainring.
The chain wrapped itself around the crank arm (wrecking the carbon) and jammed through the rings.
After nearly bringing a bunch of 50 A grade riders down I rolled to the finish to some shocked expressions.
After unwrapping the chain and replacing it this continued everytime I gave it a hard 'crank' in the big gear.
The cranks were replaced and after 15 minutes I managed to "break" them too. The chain seemed to "pop" off the big ring in the 3 o'clock position everytime it was stressed.
I am a big guy (192cm, 82kg's, A grade team rider, pretty strong), but I'm no Tom Boonen.
After much discussion with the local SRAM boys, I was given a set of "black-box" chainrings, which look just like Force rings, and haven't had a problem since.
The standard chainrings WILL NOT cope with the power put out by a big/strong rider - check out the pics of the pro teams...it's only the small guys that have the "cool" RED chainrings.
